311 | Artpark Buffalo, NY. | 07.10.17

Twenty one years ago I was a sixteen year old high school student visiting a friend in Ft. Collins CO. It was during this visit I was introduced to a band called 311 from nearby Omaha NE. Since that day the music and message of 311 has been a part of my life.
Twelve studio albums later here I am embracing the same excitement of finding this new band with the opportunity to photograph and write about the five dudes that created the major part of the soundtrack to my life.
The Unity Tour started on June 22nd in Cleveland and last week 311 made their first stop in western NY since 11/21/2005 at the Artpark in Buffalo.

Artpark is a smaller outdoor venue positioned on the banks of the Niagara River. Even though venue seemed to have a DB limit, and the show seemed much quieter than I've ever heard, 311 did not fail to bring that classic sound of hip-hop drum-n-bass and dancehall rhythms.
With threatening weather arriving at the venue just before 311 took the stage it became a show of true fans stoked to see their favorite band with no concern about the rain and a dank heady vibe! -

Perfect Mistake off of the new album MOSAIC started the show with intense energy - Nick and SA hyped the crowd as Tim P-nut and Chad brought the groove. The two hour set featured tracks from Soundsystem, Self Titled, Grassroots, Transistor, Universal Pulse, From Chaos, Evolver, with a sick tight bass solo featuring "Heathens" by Twenty One Pilots that only P-nut could provide.

As the rain continued to fall we were treated to an encore of Beyond the Gray Sky, On a Roll and Down. Every minute of the set was outstanding with amazing support from The Skints and my good friends New Politics.
