What can I say about New Politics that I haven't said before? They are outdoing themselves every single time I see them. I've been very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with and photograph these guys well over a dozen times in the last 3 years.
I've photographed them for
Fender in Rochester, NY, New York City and Brooklyn. I've also shot them for
Gretsch in New York City. I've had the privilege of being backstage before and after shows, I've photographed Radio Interviews and live on air performances and too many live shows to count any more! Needless to say I've had the opportunity to get to know David, Louis, Soren and their whole crew and it has been a life changing experience.
Getting to know them on a personal level has opened up a whole new connection when photographing them, allowing me to create some amazing images!
The Wilderness Politics Tour was no different. They hit the stage with blinding energy! As David waves the New Politics flag, Soren digs into the first riff on his custom
Fender and Louis signals the sold out crowd at the
Town Ballroom. In the first 5 seconds you can tell this is going to be one hell of a show.
As a photographer the next 45 minutes is kind of a blur to be honest, I get into "photo mode" and tune everything else out. My focus is the lighting, the movement, the smiles and the moments. I can't turn away, I know that amazing photo is just waiting for me. It is my favorite thing to do!
With the release of their new album
Vikings the show was packed with new music as well as favorites from
A Bad Girl In Harlem and their self titled
New Politics.
Below are some of my favorite images from the show. Please visit
